Description

Sandsend, one of our latest colours, not quite yellow, not quite mustard, is absolutely stunning. It evokes memories of days at the beach long gone. It catches the eye immediately and holds it.

North of Whitby, at the end of a long sandy beach, Sandsend is a small fishing village in a little bay that has formed where two streams flow from the North Yorkshire Moors into the sea. Located against steep cliffs at one end, with the sands running towards Whitby at the other, Sandsend is one of the most picturesque villages on the North Yorkshire coast. The ruins of Whitby Abbey are visible in the distance and at one time Alum workers lived in some of the cottages.

The colours of the lovely sands of Sandsend change with the light and the sea conditions but our soft, gentle yellow gives an inkling of how they can look.

It has all the attribute of the Doulton Border Leicester yarn. It is bouncy with a great handle and stitch definition. A very veratile yarn, it is a delight to knit with.

Worsted spun, it is available in 4ply and DK weights.
The 4ply is 300 metres long and is available in 100 gm skeins. Perfect for colour work,

Our flock is high welfare and slaughter free. This yarn comes from sheep that live to grow old.

Bred, sheared, scoured and spun in Yorkshire!

Washing care: Pure wool- hand wash and dry flat.
